New Feature Suggestions and Bug Reports

Here is what the statuses mean:

  • Under Review: This has been accepted. The release date is unknown.
  • Planned: This has been planned for an upcoming release – either the next release or very soon after.
  • Started: This is being actively worked on by our staff and will appear in the next major release.
  • Completed: The item has been fully implemented and appears in the latest release.
  • Declined: The item was not accepted. Check the comments area for the reason.
  1. Move the checkbox in full-screen views back to the right side of the screen

    Previous versions displayed the checkbox in full-screen views at the right side of the screen. This was very useful in one-handed mode (e.g. when walking through the supermarket).
    Version 3 displays the checkbox on the left of the screen.
    Ideally it should be an option (view-option preferred over application-wide option).

  2. bring back the yellow star

    In v3 the star ist the same blue as all other accents, which make it less noticeable that before. Please make it yellow again.

  3. Swipe to complete task

    It would be very convenient to have possibility to complete a task by swiping it (left to right, for example). Optionally, swiping a task from right to left could delete it.

  4. Make date choices Mon, Tues, Wed, ..., 1 Week, etc., more pleasing. The graphics are ugly using the new Dark Theme. Looked good before.

    The graphics ffor "pre-fab" date picker choices look ugly in the Dark Theme compared to the previous version of UTL (v2.x). At least let us have a "classic look" dark theme if we don't like the new look of UTL.

  5. List of all My Views as startup screen

    An option to set a list of all My Views as startup screen.
    Like the list of My Views that it seems in version 3 you only can get when you enter Edit Mode for My Views.
    In version 2 you could set this but now you can only choose one specific of My Views as Startup Screen.

  6. Let the user decide which functions are visible as buttons on the navigation bar

    Different users have different user behavior. For example I don't use the sort button very often but I need the sync button frequently.

    Let the user decide which button is visible prominently on the Ultimate To-Do List's navigation bar. Maybe it's enough to have one or two cusomizable buttons.

  8. Be able to backup to onedrive. Inegation with outlook, or office 365

    I do not use Google and with this app I would not need todoodle.com. i do use office 365 , and onedrive.com and outlook.com. i would like to be able to backup to there and not google or todoodle.com or even dropbox. That way I do not have my stuff all over the Internet. I can just have it in my onedrive.

  9. Add option to load app on start up and automatically sync data with Google Tasks in the background.

    I often use my office PC to enter tasks for the day, then use the mobile app throughout the day. Presently I have to run a manual sync when I open the app for the first time after a system restart. It would be great to have a synced, up to date task list as soon as I call on it. I would be willing to let the app automatically load and sync in the background OR better yet, use "push" to update the tasks when they are entered or edited on the Google Calendar website from an office PC.

  10. Ability to choose buttons that appear at the bottom in list view

    Since my GS5 has no menu button I have to long press to get the sync option. This is something I do regularly. There are some other buttons that I almost never use (filter, sort). I am sure others have different usage patterns but it would be good to be able to make the most commonly used functions appear without using the menu.

    Thanks for great software btw. I really appreciate how solid this app is. It is about the only todo app I have ever used that has not trashed my data at some point. Astrid was just terrible…

  12. Search in incomplete tasks

    When searching, default is All tasks, can this be changed in Incomplete tasks?
    When I forget to change I get a lot of completed tasks as a result of my search.

  13. Move Tasks I didn't complete today to tomorrow's list

    I haven't been able to find a way to do this. At the end of the day, I would like the capability to move all the tasks I did not complete to the next day without doing them each individually.

  15. upgrade the timer feature

    Have the app automatically add aline to the note field when the timer is starte showing the date and time the timer was started. Then additional line when the timer is stopped and include the elapsed time of that timer event. This would be usefull in helping with tracking hours so that small business owners can track time for billing clients.

  17. Mass rescheduling based on availability

    I find myself frequently having little tasks scheduled for the beginning of the day, evening or weekend. Later on my plans change and i am no longer available to be able to perform those tasks.

    There should be an quick/efficient/intelligent way to mass reschedule these tasks (that should be marked as reschedule able) to the following available slot (let's say, the following day).

    One idea (just brainstorming here) is to have a calendar view with availability periods that would automatically reschedule tasks.

    I don't know if you (or somebody else) already handles this problem with existing functionality...

  20. Synchronize with OrganiTask

    OrganiTask is a web application that helps you manage your tasks.
    As Ultimate To Do already syncs with Toodledo, I think it wouldn't require too much work to sync with OrganiTask.
    OrganiTask provides a REST API which seems really easy to use.
